Originally, these pieces were custom-made for a boutique hotel in Corsica France (Hotel L’Escale). I wanted to create a more intimate and personal connection with the viewer by creating these smaller renditions of the originals. In addition to the 8 originals that were crafted for the hotel, I’ve created a dozen more to fully round out this series. Communication was the impetus for all of these pieces - verbal, physical, emotional, and subconscious communication dictates our path and defines how open or closed we are. Within these pieces, I’ve implemented a visual language of bodies, shapes, and colors as well as the purposeful absence of those same characteristics. Each drawing is comprised of gouache paint on watercolor paper.
